6 Tips for Manage Your Online Reputation

A good online image is as important for a freelancer as water for a fish. Our profile makes us real in the online world and if you don’t make or manage it effectively, your freelancing business would be calm like hell.

Managing your online reputation is not rocket science. It is not hard but consistent. These few tips would help you create and maintain your online reputation:

1) Be Honest

Clients would be curious to know only one thing: if they can trust the freelancer. Your approach and work should be honest. Gone are the days when being honest was undermined. In the online world, nobody knows you personally, it’s your work and communication that makes or breaks your image. Be honest with your work and be honest while communicating. You would become a highly reputed client or freelancer pretty soon.

2) Be respectful to all

It is an old saying "give respect take respect". As simple as it sounds. Respect every customer, client, and anyone who gets in contact with you. It will help you get good positive reviews in your profile and also makes you a good human being. Treat everyone in the same way you would like to be treated. It is also a best practice in maintaining your rehired rate high and building up a good clientele.

3) Respond to negative reviews

There could be many reasons for a negative review. But if you handle it right, it won’t make much difference. If someone leaves negative feedback, ask for a chance to make it right. Put your efforts into correcting the mistakes that generated negative reviews. When you do it, good chances are the same client will leave a testimonial on your profile. A good testimonial from the same client will neutralize the negative feedback completely.

4) Support others and get good connections

Write guest posts on other sites, share your experiences. It would help you to build up a good reputation in the online community and you would also get a good connection to use in the future. Remember one thing if you want support from one person, you should also be ready to support 5 others. Guest posts and articles give you a chance to add value to someone else’s business and make a good reputation online.

5) Social media presence

It sounds as easy as ignorable. Every time you hear it you would feel like it is the easiest task. But it is not that easy to create and maintain a good social media presence. If you do it on every single social media, it would be hard to maintain each one of them. Instead, choose any two platforms depending on your own interests and maintain them religiously.

6) Take feedbacks

Ask your friends and colleagues to check your profiles and rate accordingly. Once you do it, you are actually making them feel important and also getting some honest advice. Be ready to return the favor anytime.
