Why you are not getting bids on your freelancing project

You might have experienced a strange situation when you post a job and don’t get enough bids to choose from. Online freelancing market is a good place where your project gets the enough visibility to attract the best talent. But sometimes it becomes hard to get the talent pool you exactly want. You get a couple of bids or more but the point is you didn’t like any of them.

What could be the reason?

Check below tips and you would know why your project did not attract the kind of freelancers you want:

1.Unclear job title

A freelancer would never check the description if the job title does not fall in his skills. Means if you want to attract good developers your title should be ‘Develop a tool\website from scratch’ instead of ‘make something’. It might sound silly but happens every day that the job title don’t make sense.

Be clear in the title and try to mention a clear title about what you want in which skill. For example ‘Develop a wordpress website’, ‘Write articles on sports’ are the title that give a good idea about the requirement.

2.Description

You might not want to share everything with the freelancer before hiring. That make sense. But sharing enough information to start with is always appreciated. With the description it should be clear that what you want him to do, in how much time, using what technologies\skills.

3.Keywords

Keywords play a vital role. Freelancers often search the projects with popular keywords. Mention the keywords which are more probable to be searched. In simple words avoid jargons.

Skills are good keywords. If you are sure about the skills and technologies you would use, mention them in the title and description as well. Also, avoid to use too many keywords.

4. Budget

Be clear and transparent about the amount you can invest in the project. Expecting the freelancer to negotiate is not a good practice. Budget is the one thing freelancers enter to filter their search results. Sometimes you might haven’t decided the budget and you end up entering too low or too high budget hoping to negotiate when getting proposals but in both cases your project won’t appear in their search results.

If you are not sure how much is a good amount, check the similar projects and their budget it would give you a clear idea. Then, to know the fair amount, find the mean or half of the sum of your minimum and maximum amount you can invest in the project.

5. Categories

Missing category or adding incorrect category would make your project entirely invisible to the kind of freelancers you want. Adding categories is easy and mandate. Even if you are new and not aware about the categories, you can simply choose the correct category by reading all the categories.

If you have done all these things in your job posting and still not getting good proposals, consider accepting auto proposals. Auto proposals are set up by freelancers in particular skills and budget. You would always get the best matches by accepting the auto proposals. And it works instantly. Post a project, accept auto proposals, within 2 minutes you will have auto proposals from the best freelancers in the niche. Remember, freelancer still has right to reject your project even if you got an auto proposal.
