Seeking a DevOps Engineer with solid Kubernetes experience to join our DevOps team and help manage and deploy open source data platforms and infrastructure. Datopian creates agile data management solutions for government and the enterprise using (and building) open source technologies. We're fully remote, have a passion for data, and a culture that values autonomy and initiative.
About You
You are curious, eager and hard-working and have retained a willingness to learn and grow with your experience.
Communication: reasonable spoken and written English is essential so that you can communicate regularly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
DevOps and Coding: you should have several years of experience including at least 1-2 with modern DevOps stack and tech such as Docker and Kubernetes. Our platform is largely written in Python and JavaScript so some familiarity with python and web applications is a definite plus. Solid debugging and troubleshooting experience (including site reliability work) is a real plus.
Team: you'll be working in a tight-knit team with other developers and engineers so experience working productively with others is highly desirable.

Key Points

What Will You Do?
Our work focuses on data collecting, managing, processing and presenting it. Thus, whatever you do with us you'll be working with data in some capacity. Our platforms include web applications primarily in python and JavaScript. We also deploy using standard containerization technologies such as docker and Kubernetes. Key responsibilities will include:
- Architecture and iteration of various Kubernetes-based systems
- Design and implementation of automated infrastructure configuration
