We have an MS Access based departmental application which needs to be installed and reinstalled on multiple workstations.
We are looking for automated routine to check requirements and install the application.
Requirements include:
Pre-Setup:
Check that the required components are installed:
Machine 32bit or 64bit
Office 32bit
Check that 32bit version of office is installed
Check that word is installed (32bit)
MS Access version 2010, or greater (full or runtime)
MS Access database engine 2010
.net framework
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 (x86 and x64)
Windows Installer 4.5
Allows ClickOnce application to install
ClickOnce compliance
Adequate security to install applications
Certain ActiceX components registered
Database connectivity through ODBC
Confirm 32-bit ODBC driver
Access to create ODBC for system-wide
If no access to system-wide, check user
Provide warning if only has rights to install it for user account only
Call API and check update director location.
Access to network paths
Confirm config file is in updates directory.
Report back all issues to the user.
If no issues move to the next step.
Make a call to an API to get the Update directory location.
Install Switchboard:
Use update directory location supplied from API call
Install the ClickOnce app for switchboard.
Install Land Manager:
Set up an ODBC connection
Pull server from config file found in updates directory
Pull database name from config file found in updates directory
Pull ODBC connection name predefined.
Install Land Manager MS Access application
Vba warnings set up for access version Registry key:
Name: VBAWarnings
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 1
