We are looking for an optimization expert for this problem:
Given:
- a number n of electric car charging stations
- each station has a certain maximum electric power
- power can be selected continuously or discretely in m steps
- at each station cars show up randomly and/or in certain time brackets, requiring a certain amount of energy, and by a certain time
- the price of electricity is dependent on the time of the day and known in 15min increment (time slots), but that distribution stays constant.
- there may be a maximum permissible total power output per 15min time slot
Question:
What is the optimal (or near optimal) distribution of power levels per time slot, per charging station to minimize on average cost (per day), under constraints above
Requirements: The algorithms has to at least approximate the optimum, regardless of all non-linearities, discontinuities etc
The algorithm should permit easy future extensions (other non-linearities, using forecasts etc )
