A comedy writer is finalizing various scripts ranging from sketch comedy to short plays. Each individual production is under 5 minutes, with most around 2 to 3 minutes. There are even a few that are approx. 30 seconds to 1-minute. We are leaning more towards 2D/cartoon animation; however, we are very open to any possibilities!
We will provide full scripts and all voiceover content for the animation process. After the animation is created, we will then hand over the animations/voiceovers to a studio to populate the product with music and sounds. Naturally, we recognize that various animators work differently, and some may even have a library of sounds with which they work. We are absolutely open to working with any of these options.
We are still exploring possible animation qualities/styles. As artists ourselves, we respect the time it takes animators to produce quality work, and want to make sure that you are paid for the time you put into the project (hence the budget note above). With that said, we are interested in hearing both high-end and low-cost option/style proposals. We've discussed selecting high-end production values for a few, whereas we are also considering options that might not include color, or might verge into stick figure territory (in scripts where the audio is the primary focus). Personally, we are open to all options you can propose. We envision that some productions might even do well with more static animations (with mouth movements and other small details taking up large spans of time).
The initial hurdle right now is that because these initial few projects will serve as introductions to our content, we are currently weighing whether it will be best to start with one of our favorite longer scripts to promote (thus using most of our initial budget for one larger project), or establish perhaps a series of .5 to 1-minute smaller clips (to spread out initial costs across a few videos).
If you are interested, we will send along our initial script (a sketch comedy script around 3 minutes in length) for price/delivery estimates and options. Once we have an animator and determine the most appropriate script to begin with, we'll get the voiceovers done within 5-7 days, and move into the animation process.
For first proposals (which we recognize will be fairly inaccurate given that we aren't initially providing this script due to confidentiality purposes), please consider a script around 3 minutes that involves quite a bit of action and different scenes. With that said, it would be great to hear options for (1) color vs. no color, (2) detailed figures vs. stick figures or figures with limited features, and (3) any other details that could conceivably reduce costs. Again, we recognize the time and skill required for animation, so in asking for various pricing options, we are solely trying to determine our options for how best to launch our content.
