PROJECT BRIEF
Use Autodesk Autocad to create a room picker dynamic block. Block should update through a table source (Autocad link to excel, google sheets, etc.) with various requirements. Quantities of each block to be inserted also to be defined by table.
Overview of Need
The creation of this dynamic block is to assist reduce the amount of time it takes to space plan a typical office. Having initial area square footage of the dynamic block set by the space types defined in the external database source, would reduce the time it takes to draw each space.
Repositioning and adjustment of the areas of each space can then be made within the drawing.
Audience
Deliverables for this project are to be used by me for space planning purposes.
Goals
Reduce the amount of time it takes to draw each space by using a dynamic block defined by space type. For flexibility, upon insertion into drawing, allow dynamic blocks to be stretched, repositioned, and rotated, without changing the area (sq ft) or redefining the block.
Requirements
Deliverables:
2 files (or more depending on methodology). 1 drawing file and 1 data file (possibly)
Drawing file type *.dwg (AutoCAD)
Data file type preferably Google sheet, but Excel ok
Dynamic Block:
Units: Imperial (feet, inches)
References block properties table for attributes
Block property table to include at least the following attributes:
Space Type Name (ie Office, Workstation, Reception, Meeting Room, etc)
Area (sq ft) Fixed Area but stretchable upon insert in model space
Ability to rotate and maintain area grips in relative location to block
Text tag within block showing Area info and space type name
Text tag centered and relative to polygon center in block
Text tag maintains placement within the block polygon
Text tag updates automatically upon space type change
Text tag updates automatically upon block stretch
Drawing File:
Dynamic block should be saved within this file.
Ability to automatically insert dynamic block in quantities as determined by a data table (ie Excel, Google sheet, etc)
Insert blocks sequentially by space type
Do not overlap blocks upon insertion
Content Dependencies
Dynamic blocks should reference the block properties tables. The drawing should reference the data table (

I will share it later once job awarded
