I normally divide my process into 4 parts: outline, research, writing, editing.
Outline: I expect you to write a rough outline of what you intend to write and expand on a few points. We will agree together on the general idea and direction of the article as well as all the parts of it. This prevents a lot of misunderstandings down the road
Research: I like to research stories, parables or metaphors I can use to explain concepts. Stories are powerful and keep people engaged. Sometimes I won't find them, other times I will and makes sense to include them (I also tap into stories I've read in books).
Writing: I'll write the piece from start to finish without editing anything
Edit: editing is where the magic is. An ok article with great editing turns into a great article, but not the other way around. I pay attention to sentence length, readability, and formatting. I use Grammarly to correct mistakes and Hemingway app to check readability.
Type of Writing
I like to write like I speak, directly and straight to the point. The golden rule is: if I take a word out of a sentence and that sentence still makes sense, then the word is not needed. My writing style is pretty much casual.
Rather than cover the what, I mostly focus on the how. Posts need to be actionable. So if we're doing a post on time management tips, I'm more interested in writing about how to execute time management tips - what the tips are and specifically how to apply them right now to their life - rather than just giving readers time management tips.

Formatting and SEO
Formatting impacts readability as well as SEO.
Each section should be 250 words or shorter. Break paragraphs where appropriate and long sections with smaller paragraphs. Use bold and italic to provide emphasis.
Include the keyword in the beginning of the title (or after 1 or 2 words at the most), as well as sub-sections headers where it makes sense. The keyword should also appear a couple of time throughout the article where it makes sense.
Link to other articles where relevant. In the beginning, you'll have a hard time knowing what and where to link since you're not familiar with my blog. Have a look at (link removed) to have a general sense. I'll probably edit for links in the beginning but it's good to know it's something expected down the line. Linking to outside sources is also expected and that you can do right away. I normally only link to respected sources such as research studies and other trusted websites.
The end goal of every article is to write the best piece of content that exists on the web on that particular subject. It needs to be informative, detailed, well-research, witty and, most of all, fun to read.
