We want to design a custom cable modem. I need a consultant who feels they have the knowledge and expertise to explain what software would need to be generated to create a cable modem that is DOCSIS 3.X certified. We want to speak to someone who can answer questions about what would be involved in creating a custom cable modem with a custom software layer on top. Are there free cable modem software packages that we can buy, install and resell? What kind of barriers would we have in getting a unit working with the various cable providers? What would we have to do ourselves and what could we buy. I.E. can we buy software from a vendor we can load on off the shelf electronics we house in a custom housing? Help us understand better what is required to undertake this effort.
