We are an investment company that received daily data on hundreds of publicly traded companies. It generally comes out 'raw' in an excel file that we download each day that has the data displayed as year-over-year percentage changes in the data we are tracking for each company on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. We download this data from a portal that has an integrated API to the data source.
As of now, as one can imagine, it is painstakingly inefficient to track this data by just reading this raw output. What we are seeking is someone who can design some kind of data tracker (it could be a dashboard, an excel file, the best way the developer sees fit) that would perform a variety of calculations on this data and allow us to easily sort and filter for the most interesting companies as a one-time project. Preferably, this deliverable would update in real-time and would allow me to track the changes from the data very easily.
As an added bonus, it would be very advantageous if the freelancer is able to develop something that is derived from the API portal itself rather than this raw excel file each day. Furthermore, there may be other simple public data (not in the excel file) that we would like to track that we would also want to be integrated into the deliverable (e.g. stock price % change, short interest, etc.). Combining all of these aspects into the deliverable so that it is easily visible would be the other aspect of this project.
Freelancers with cleaning, analyzing, and creating easy-to-view data insights from unfiltered raw data are desirable. A coding background with experience in integrating API calls into a data dashboard (or something similar) is highly desirable. This is a one-time project but could become a recurring role if the developer increasingly finds additional methods to reduce the time necessary to extract insights from our data.
