We are looking for someone to develop a backend system for a mobile application. This job is FOR THE BACKEND ONLY and does not involve any coding of the actual mobile application. You may be asked to communicate with the mobile application developers regarding the structuring of queries.
The system will allow some corporate users to manage a dataset and will require login/security for these corporate users.
In addition the system must handle end-user accounts, with some basic account data and security. The mobile app will query this backend through JSON. The backend must handle security tokens for such queries.
The backend will store location data and some queries will be location based. The backend must thus handle basic location queries, including "distance from" calculations and queries for "within this location box". It is important that the backend location data is well-structured and indexed to keep response time low.
We are looking to have the backend developed in Ruby on Rails. The design of the backend can for now be kept in a simple bootstrap layout.
A system description document is available on request. We are looking for someone available to start very quickly.
