Seeking an experienced developer with expertise in Python and/or Javascript to join our growing team. Datopian implements agile data management solutions for government and the enterprise using (and creating) open source technologies. We're fully remote, have a passion for data, and a culture that values autonomy and initiative.
## About You
You are curious, eager and hard-working and have retained a willingness to learn and grow despite being experienced and expert.
- Communication:good spoken and written English is essential and you can communicate regularly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Coding and Design: experience designing and implementing web applications in Python and/or Javascript (front and backend) is a must. Experience with data wrangling, data engineering, and/or data science is desirable, as is a strong working knowledge of SQL and other database technologies.
- Team: you should have experience working with (and preferably leading) teams of developers. This could include scoping and defining work for other developers and overseeing their work.

Location: we are fully remote and you will work virtually.

## What Will You Do?
Our work focuses on data - collecting, managing, processing and presenting it. Thus, whatever you do with us you'll be working with data in some capacity. Our platforms include web applications primarily in python and javascript. We also deploy using standard containerisation technologies such as docker and kubernetes. Key responsibilities include:
- Technical design, scoping, and implementation of data management solutions for clients, using open source software.
- Oversight of technology with a team of developers as part of agile project delivery.
- Communication with project stakeholders about technical delivery, including at times client-facing meetings.

We develop data management and integration platforms for governments, companies and NGOs all over the world. Our founder designed and built the world's most successful open data platform (CKAN), and we have built solutions for dozens of clients ranging from NGOs and governments to multinationals. A lot of our work is open-source and we have a strong emphasis on seeing data used to make the world a better place.
## How are we organized?
We aren't like most companies: we are a small, fully remote, virtual team working across multiple time zones. We have a very flat ("bossless") structure where you'll get to play a major role from day one, use a broad range of tech and learn new skills.
