Required Graphic Design,3D Design freelancer for FCPX video editors required to edit Dance concert 4k Video to 1080p job

Posted at - Mar 29, 2021

DELIVERABLES INCLUDE 1. 43xindividual dance routines edited into individual clips Each routine runs around 3 minutes. 2: upload clips to Vimeo on-demand channel. 3. Blu-ray Disc Image file of the concert.

IMPORT/ TIMELINE REQUIREMENTS: vision is shot wide frame in 4k, with 2 channels audio. One channel has sound desk feed, the other is from an external microphone. Audio channels to be Analysis and should sit around -6db. The channel with sound desk feed is to be used for the edit, the external microphone channel is to be used for crowd response at the end of each number. There is one exception - Tap dance numbers (see below). The timeline for each project must be set at 1080P / 25p and exported as .MOV file. for vimeo and H.264 for disc authoring

LOWER THIRDS REQUIREMENTS: Text for lower thirds will be provided. Each clip/ routine to have lower thirds at the beginning of the clip followed by our logo and the dance studios logo. 5 seconds for the Lower Third Title and 5 seconds for the logos that appear at the same time on the left and right of the lower screen.

THE EDIT: There are specific rules that must be followed. 1. All Dancers must remain in the frame at all times. 2. edits must show the entire dance move ie: do not change frame when the dancers are 1/2 way through a leap. 3. Edits must be done on the beat this will assist with the previous point. 4. Unless the dance number is of dynamic style ie: Jazz or Hip Hop, edits should flow almost unnoticed and match the phrasing of the music. Because the original vision is shot in 4K and the Project timeline is 1080p the edit can punch in x 4.
TIP: using Ken Burns set up the following in your effects browser: 1. EXTRA WIDE (full-frame) to WIDE. 2. WIDE. 3. WIDE TO MCU(medium close up). 4. MCU 5. MCU to CU (close up). 5 EXTRA WIDE TO MCU. 6. EXTRA WIDE TO CU. 7. WIDE TO CU.
NOTE: You will be provided with access to previously edited concerts for reference that should explain this visually.

COLOUR GRADING & NOISE REMOVAL; some of the dance routines have been shot in low light. Where picture noise is noticeable, you will be required to remove noise. In most cases the 'noise removal' effect in FCPX 'basic' effect option will work okay, however, there may be the need for a higher quality noise removal. I use Neat Video and in most cases, the Auto profile build works well. Noise is more likely to be seen in close up edits. Colour Grading is simple. In most cases there will be little need to adjust, however as the concert will be authored to Blu-ray Luma channel should sit around 100% and may need to be adjusted. Blacks should sit on or slightly above 0. Exposure Mids may need to be adjusted.

BLU-RAY DISC IMAGE: Authoring of the disc should include the following: 1. Menu Background image - this will be provided. 2. Title of the Concert and the Studio name - this will be provided. 3. Thumbnails of each clip with clip name. 4. Autoplay on insert. BROADCAST FORMAT IS PAL

OTHER NOTES: Tap Dancing Numbers. Often the sound engineer forgets to turn the Tap Microphones on. In these instances, you will need to use the external microphone channel as well as the sound desk channel. Using the 'expand audio ' option in FCPX, adjust each channel by using audio effects or adjust the EQ so that tapping sound is heard. In most cases, you lower the sound desk channel and apply a reduce base filter to that channel and raise the channel with the Tap sound and EQ that channel.

When analysing audio, FCPX often will automatically set 'noise removal' on one or both of the audio channels. always slide this to '0' otherwise you will hear a noticeable popping sound on each edit.

An opening sequence titles video will be supplied. This is to be placed at the front of the first routine. ie: include it in the 1st clip, not as a separate clip. A closing sequence title video will be supplied, that is to be placed at the end of the last routine/clip.

Small children dance routines - the smaller children routines are generally static and take up the width of the stage. Using a split-screen effect with 3/4s of the screen showing the whole stage and the other 1/4 displaying a pan of the kids. Do this in the middle of the routine.

If the successful applicant can deliver the above I have another five concerts that also need to be edited.

I am looking for a Project total cost, not a per hour cost. I will need to know how long it will take you to complete the job so I can advise my clients when they will receive their video. To assist you in making an informed decision I will give you one dance routines raw footage from a previous year to edit prior to being accepted. Once you have understood the workload and time frame, & If you can display your ability to do this at the required standard, you will be considered for the work. The start is immediate.
