We are looking for freelance front end developers who want to work in our developer community. The work is basically taking designs, cutting them into an agreed CSS Framework and then converting the designs into Core dna's templating system.
REQUIREMENTS
We'll provide you access to a development environment and bitbucket, you'll get to see code examples of working websites and the training and support to ensure you can deliver projects. We want you to be able to take the design and deliver the finished project.
Our platform is decoupled; the back end and front end are independent, this allows you to code with the templating to create the finished websites.
We use Slack and our own project collaboration environment for communication and we are available for video and phone conversations to help resolve issues and to help with training.
BASE SKILLS.
You will need a strong grasp of the following:
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of commercial experience
- Semantic HTML and CSS based design
- JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery
- CSS Frameworks like Bootstrap and Foundation
- CSS grid systems and their relation to responsive design
- CSS precompilers (LESS, SASS, Stylus)
- GIT
- Be active on Github (or any other social coding platform)
- Clearly communicate with the team about progress, bottlenecks and any issues you may face. - - - Fluent in English
CORE DNA SPECIFIC SKILLS. (Training will be provided)
- Converting static HTML designs into a Coredna's templating system with HTML5, CSS Javascript and other technologies.
- Working knowledge of the Core dna system
- Learn Smarty templating language.

Q. Do I need any back end language knowhow?
There is no need for any back end development knowhow.
Q. How am I expected to work?
We want it to be convenient with your own life. All we ask is to work our team to establish the key milestones & delivery dates. We will want you to communicate regularly with your project coordinator to provide updates on your progress and check ins. This can be done through our communications channels.
Q. How do I communicate with you?
If you need support or questions answered you can reach us on Slack or Collaboration tool or just call us.
Q. How will I be paid?
You'll quote on finishing the job and paid a fixed sum for the project.
Q. How does the templating work?
We use smarty templating language.
Q: How large are the projects you may work with?
Our projects can be from a week to 8 weeks. The projects may be a marketing site or an ecommerce site. It could also be multiple sites.
Q. What is the lead time?
We normally give you anywhere from a week to a month lead time on a project. It varies on the project and the client requirements. If the requirements exist we can move quickly, if they don't we need to get a requirements document produced. The time needed for a quote varies with projects but we make sure to give you enough time to evaluate the requirements and ask clarifying questions.
Q. How will we evaluate you?
Generally we are looking for a person that is engaged in their craft. We can find examples of their work. We can see them engaging in the developer community. Their coding is clean and well documented. Other important factors include clear and open communications style.
