3Sages is a small group of loosely connected web developers, designers, content editors, and marketers with over 15 years of experience in website development and custom web-based applications. We are looking to establish a relationship with additional freelancers to assist in various aspects of website building and maintenance. You will be working with a small team of people and reporting to a senior developer and project manager. This is primarily contract work, and the hours will vary month to month. The work can be done from anywhere.
We are in need of a front-end developer who can build and customize Drupal 7/8 themes. This includes taking existing themes and upgrading them, or taking a graphic design and converting it to code based on mobile responsive themes and Bootstrap framework. You will also need to have some experience with Drupal site building modules such as Views and Paragraphs to organize, style, and render content.
Hours and Pay rate
The hours will vary depending on active projects, but we're expecting about 5-15 hours per week.
Starting rate $30-40/hour, with opportunity for advancement after a 3-month introductory period.
Required skills
Working knowledge of theme development in Drupal 7 and 8
Drupal 7 - basic PHP coding in template files and template.php
Drupal 8 - twig coding
Experience with coding JavaScript/jQuery, HTML5 and CSS3
Skilled in using the Bootstrap framework to create mobile responsive design
Can write CSS media queries for mobile responsive
Can do both mobile-first and desktop-first CSS
Coding with CSS precompilers such as SASS/SCSS
Comfortable adding jQuery scripts and libraries to extend template functionality
Familiarity with UI and UX best practices
An eye for clean and modern web designs
Cross-browser compatibility testing & quality assurance
Can use browser Developer Tools to debug/override CSS and test sites in mobile
Attention to detail
Adhere to Drupal coding standards
Basic knowledge of GIMP or Photoshop to convert layered design files into a Drupal base theme, such as Bootstrap, AdaptiveTheme, ZURB Foundation, Zen, Omega.
Preferred skills
Knowledge of Photoshop for minor design edits and creation of graphic elements
Experience with site building tools like Views, Manage fields, Paragraphs, Panels, etc.
JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX/JSON
SEO optimization and familiarity with Drupal's SEO modules
Interest in expanding into Drupal 9 next year
An understanding of how to code for web accessibility (Section 508 & WCAG)
