BIG PICTURE:
We are looking for an experienced development-operations expert ( a combination of an AWS architect, developer and administrator is ideal) to join our Technology department at LiveGlam. This is a long term position and the right candidate will be a strong cultural fit for our fast growing business. This candidate must be familiar with AWS and WordPress. Our site is an established subscription site running a very customized woocommerce plugin and is under Cloudflare. We are also running WooCommerce subscriptions with over 80k users and over 3M orders processed. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast paced environment and willing to collaborate with other team members.
HOW YOU'LL SPEND YOUR TIME:
WORDPRESS
Tuning production site for speed under load balancing
Able to diagnose, fix or recommend fixes to programming team
Database management and Linux hardening and tuning
Aware of potential security threats or problems
Load test and identify breakpoints and stability of the setup
AWS
EC2 management
Load balancing, Scaling groups, AMI and Image archivist
RDS and Maria tuning and monitoring
Cost analysis
PHP 7, proxySQL, Openresty Nginx
Gitlab
PI/CD pipelines for autonomous updates to prod, dev and sister sites
Autonomous GULP
Keys, passwords and settings
Document
Ongoing Wiki document of how things work
Daily reporting via Skype to other team members
Continuous digging into performance via New Relic and other testing
WHAT YOU HAVE:
5+ years experience in systems admin
3+ years in AWS and Wordpress
Impeccable communication skills
Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
WHO OVERSEES YOU:
The Systems Admin will report to the Systems Manager.
WHO YOU OVERSEE:
The Systems Admin will not currently oversee anyone.
WHERE:
This job is a remote position and can be worked from a home office
WHEN:
The standard work schedule for the Systems Admin is Monday - Friday, 11:00 p.m. PST to 7:00 a.m. PST
HOW MUCH:
$22-25/hour based on experience
