We are looking for an IT/applications development training coordinator to assist in the development and delivery of an online applications development training program. This (part-time, online, real-time) training program is designed to assist participants to develop relevant IT and programming skills to start small businesses as independent programmers and IT developers.
The role of the coordinator is to:
a) Assist in further development of the curriculum.
b) Assist in the screening of prospective instructors and trainers for the program.
c) Develop the proper modules for evaluating student performance and progress.
d) Teach some of the courses as required. (Optional but highly probable)
Students profile is typically college-educated, with an interest in applications development or some prior exposure to IT. This is envisioned to be a one-year program and there will be considerable emphasis on practical skills that lead to employment (or self-employment) outcomes. It is a part-time program and students are expected to meet (real-time) with instructors two to three times per week. Ample study material will be made available online for self-study, so as to augment the real-time sessions.
The coordinator must have applications development experience so as to develop a program that is relevant and current to student needs. Prior experience as a trainer, educator or curriculum developer for IT and/or applications development training would be highly beneficial. The coordinator is expected to work remotely and there is considerable flexibility in terms of schedules. This applied programming course would cover the following: Java, Python, C++, LAMP Stack, and introductory applications development for Android devices. We do not expect one instructor to cover all of these but the coordinator will provide oversight of the instructors that do, and will be expected to teach at least one of the course modules. This would be an ongoing engagement that we expect will lead to increased responsibility over time.
