Required javascript,PHP freelancer for Joomla 2.5.9 to Joomla x.y.z migration (where x>2) job

A music teacher (hence very little budget) has a working Joomla web site for her classes. Since this summer, It has become TERRIBLY slow to the point where we believe it might be caused by an old and incompatible version of software and plugins.

Either the problem or, preferably, fix it by migrating all its content to the latest version.

Two restrictions on the website:
1) important pages (mostly videos) are only available through a password protected page where the password is changed annually
2) No video can be downloaded by the viewers. (For that we currently use hwdMediaShare)

My role? As a friend to a non-technical friend, I translate users request to technical ones and vice versa.
