LMS Development Lead

The LMS Development Lead will work in partnership with the Wisewire Project Manager, Lead ID, and QA Lead on assigned programs to ensure the quality (seamless student experience) of all course builds, both masters and term prepped sections and the proactive solutioning for staffing and production needs.

The LMS Development lead will:

Familiarize themselves with our client and LMS instance for assigned programs and ensure Wisewire's Program Style Guide reflects key setting capabilities and requirements
Lead and organize the development team for assigned projects. This includes meeting with the PM to gauge the needed production work, timeline, etc., and:
(1) determining what work you will need to do yourself
(2) delegating other work to team members, with appropriate documentation and oversight to ensure success
(3) Proactively setting and documenting standards and best practices for the build to ensure consistency across the program and communicating this information to need to know parties. Some examples of settings and considerations include:
file naming/media library structure in the LMS
size settings for embedded video, storyline files, h5p etc.
Module release schedules
Quiz settings
Deletion of unpublished/unused pages
Review the development work of the production team (keep a performance tracker) and make recommendations to the PM and Program Lead as to the quality of the work executed -- making adjustments to the team as necessary to ensure quality.
Set up new course shells with all applicable tools and functionality for course builds.
Work alongside the Program Lead to enforce the program-level expectations and standards laid out in the program Style Guide and to ensure successful media integration (operates as expected, displays at right size)
Work closely with Wisewire's Media Dev team to ensure the above
Work alongside the Solutions Architect and university team (if needed) to ensure new integrated tools function properly and as expected in the program's LMS.
Tools may include Kaltura, Zoom, Hypothes.is, YellowDig among others
Act as a main point of contact for technical or functional issues found in the LMS that require WW action or resolution.
As part of term-prep: own the process of copying courses or course content from master shells to term-specific shells and ensure a smooth process. The lead is responsible for flagging any risks specific to the program's LMS or operations that may arise in this process.
Estimated Time Commitment:

During Build Phase of the project: Average 10 hours per week per course
Between Build Phases: Average 5 hours per week
Skills and Qualifications:

Higher level degree in education technology, or related computer/coding degree
5-10 yrs experience working with Learning Management Systems
Expert level understanding of Canvas and/or Sakai
High level of technical knowledge
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Meticulous attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple assignments (superb time management skills)
Creative problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently as well as with a group
Experience reading and interpreting schedules, spreadsheets, and resource management is preferred
