Project Description
Our client has several repositories built-in MS Access which are the basis for many critical banking operations in several departments. Created several years ago, many of these systems have passed through the hands of a variety of people who have been in charge of them.
After its original creation, the system has been changed by different people and it has now become necessary to delve into it to understand the entirety of its working, the business logic embedded in its various processes, and the nature and extent of the query and reports available and in use. The goal is to understand the flows, processes, data sources and outputs by 're-engineering' this system with well-maintained documentation.
The current high-level view of the system includes the following assumptions:
It imports data from several sources including Excel, databases, etc.
It was built in-house to originally analyze and report on Consumer Loan Originations,
It manually generates reports in Excel.
Other small databases may feed off this reporting system.
Its uses include: Operational review, early detection (sales integrity) goal setting, sales production reports, calls. incentive, sales vs. goal
It has no customer-facing systems- purely internal.
Project Steps / Timeline
Reverse engineer and understand the existing system and platform from a technical perspective, document its processes and working.
Review the (resulting) documentation for the system and determine what needs to be changed, enhanced, or added based on business and technology needs to create a roadmap and recommendations for the future.
Contribute to the next version of the system(s).
Currently planned for 10 weeks in total, 2 weeks of which will be on-site in Massachusetts.
After this onsite kick-off session, the rest of the project will be done from Maxima offices in Poland (Krakow/Gdansk)
As part of the deliverable, you will prepare and deliver a document that details the workings of the system, containing:
The workflow of the system
Details of the various data sources and where they feed into
The various databases and excel sheets that form part of the system and its structure
The processes (including macros) being used internally within the system and flow of data across internal entities
List of all outputs (queries and reports) with layouts
List of all data feeds to other systems (if any)
Recommendations for migration away from Access DB for review and future action
The study will be carried with appropriate expertise in MS Access, SQL, Visual Basic, and Excel.

The ideal candidate must have
Experience in banking/financial services
Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position with similar duties and technologies
Experiencing in documenting
Database modelling
System migrations / taking part in design decisions
Knowledge of other tools and systems (E.g Oracle Apps, ServiceNow, SalesForce, etc)
Excellent English both written and spoken is a must.
