This is a medical research
prospective study
small sample size
but I need the data analysis very very very soon.
I would love to communicate with the bio statistician before starting the data analysis to clarify everything.
my methodology:
Prospective cohort study conducted with a sample of 13 patients who underwent flexible ureteros copy (fURS) for symptomatic renal stone.
Study included all pediatric patients who underwent URS with the use of ureteral access sheath at the mentioned period with no exclusion criteria.
We reviewed each patient for demographic data, the previous medical and surgical history including previous ESWL, URS and PCNL or Open surgeries. Preoperative imaging obtained to assess stone site and burden along with associated hydronephrosis or other congenital anomalies. Operative time, complications and additional sessions needed have been recorded.
Almost all patients had Double-J stent inserted preoperatively for passive dilatation of the ureter. A (10/12Fr, 35cm) Biflex ureteral access sheath was used in all procedures for active dilatation. Two flexible endoscopes of Flex X2 Storz, Flex XC Storz and URF-P5 Olympus involved at our institution. Fragmentation of the calculi done by Holmium: YAG laser and the calculi extracted using Rocamed or Coloplast Basket. All patients had Double-J stent inserted at the conclusion of the procedure. Follow up determined since date of surgery until most recent visit in clinic. Follow up made with Ultra Sound imaging to observe the stone residual beside additional imaging if needed.
