We are about to migrate two mysql servers from Amazon RDS to a pair of dedicated servers in a master slave configuration.
The databases we want to migrate have the following characteristics:
- All tables use InnoDB
- mysqldump produces a 50GB sql file for one server and 20GB for the other server
- Have stored procedures
- Have functions
- Some tables have triggers
The 2 dedicated servers have the following specs:
Ubuntu 18.04
Intel E3-1270 v6 4C/8T - 3.8GHz
32GB RAM
2 x 450GB SSD Nvme Softraid
We want to set up Percona MySql Server 8.0 as a master in one of the dedicated servers and as a replication slave in the other server. All the tables in all the databases use InnoDB. We need to be able to promote the slave to master if anything happens to the master server.
We need:
- my.cnf optimized for those hardware specifications
- step by step instructions to setup the master
- step by step instructions to setup the slave replica
- step by step instructions to promote the slave to master if we ever need to do it
- step by step instructions to migrate the databases from both servers as quickly and efficiently as possible (we have a 3 hour window to migrate all the databases from both servers)
