Im about to factory reset 7 iMacs in the office after having come under threat following a hacking scare. When Ive backed up data, reset the Macs, set up all new accounts with new passwords - I want to test how secure they are before we get back to business.
I'll need someone who is thoroughly familiar with interpreting console logs to make sure there's no existing trace of compromise - then to test the security of our platform logins and the network in general so I know where the higher risk points are. Id also like to set up some kind of monitoring - not just like remote login where I can view their screen, but something which keeps logs of every step. So lets say, in 6 months from now we have another hacking scare and start going through the computers and find an application was installed at a certain time weeks prior, I can go back though the records to see who was logged on at that time and precisely what they did on the computer. Obviously I'd want top make sure that having access to such monitoring is not done at the cost of making the machines more vulnerable to remote login from the outside should someone be sneaky and malicious.
Its just after 7pm Saturday Sydney Australia time. I plan on this job taking place ideally some time tomorrow or the following day at the latest.
So if you're available with that time frame, can read Mac logs as well as you read English and you are experienced not just with security but specially with MAC SECURITY, then just tell me when you're available, how long you think it might take and what advice you'd suggest up front I be mindful of before starting the process.
