We are an art installation and landscape design company in Beijing, Shanghai, and NY and have a project with an element which requires structural engineering input for development of the design.
Project is located in China.
The elements are 4 steel light poles at three heights of 8, 10, and 12m. The poles are intended to be tapered from the bottom to the top and we hope to make them as slender as possible. We expect the poles will be cut from steel plate and made as cruciform columns wrapped in a metal cover.
Each pole holds one suspended ring element. The ring element is intended to be as light as possible and ideally suspended with only cables from the pole. The ring thus is intended to be in compression and all the cables in tension.
The foundations for the 4 light poles are each a unique situation. If a foundation must extend above the allotted space below the paving we suggest it is at most 400mm high so we can use it to create a bench.
We require the structural sizing of the light pole, the light ring, and the connecting cables (or pipes). We also require structural sizing of foundations. We require CAD drawings and/or Rhino models of the design. We require calculations in word document form.
We intend to use your structural design to work with the Chinese engineers to develop the final stamped drawings in China.
