I am setting up a point of sale system for the first time for my brother's bar and don't really have experience with setting up a network properly. Luckily I bought all the right ubiquiti hardware, so all I need is someone experienced with setting up the proper network infrastructure to ensure quality of service for all the point of sale terminals, kitchen network printers, rdp android tablets.
My Setup:
3x Dell T30 16gb ram Servers, connected via ethernet:
1 hosting SQL Server Express 2016, 1 running server hosting RDP for tablets 1-5, 1 server hosting rdp for 6-11.
3x HP Rp9 point of sale all in one terminals, connected via ethernet
6x Epson tm-u220b network kitchen printers, connected via ethernet
3x Epson tm-t88vi network thermal receipt printers for tablets, connected via ethernet
11x Samsung galaxy tab a 8.0 2017 android tablets running micrsoft rdp app, connected via wifi
10x Pax D220 credit card payment terminals, connected via wifi
3x pax s300 credit card payment terminals, connected via ethernet
1x USG-8 Ubiquiti Security Gateway
1x Ubiquiti 24port POE Managed Switch
Current known issues:
Waitresses are complaining that randomly during the day all of the point of sale terminals and tablets will get really really slow. The point of sale software itself has serious lag. When this happens they say that they just exit the pos program and it works fine again on all devices.
I have also had complaints that tickets going to network printers in the kitchen have had delays of 1-5 or 10 minutes before. I don't take this feedback that serious however because waitresses are very untrustworthy with their feedback as they often forget to put an order in until last minute and blame the system for their food going out late. I would however not be surprised if there are cases of 1-3 minute delay as a cook there has genuinely been trying to help me and he said he noticed a 1-3 minute delay before.
The ubiquiti network equipment is not setup at all whatsoever. I would really appreciate taking a look at sql server express as well to make sure its optimized properly for reliable performance to all 14 point of sale programs connecting to it.
