I'm looking for someone to consult about setting up the proper network for running lighting protocols through on film sets.
Scenario: We are shooting in an airplane hangar for a scene. I have a console to control all of the lights. It sends a protocol called sACN or Art-Net via ethernet or wifi. I'm looking to drop a mesh network in place where I can go anywhere in or around the hangar and be able to remotely control my lights. Is there an easy solution for this? There would be max 2 users on this CLOSED network. Only this traffic would be going through it.
I'm also interested in talking about how to maximize usage of cheap routers for doing this.
Scenario: I make an app that does the same thing as the above 'console' for the iPad. Users are using anything from apple airport expresses to $20 wifi routers off amazon to do this in small rooms (coffee shops) for small scenes. Some experience lag, others don't. Is there something to configure their routers that will minimize lag? Is there a good cheap router that will do this better than others?
