ABOUT ME

I have received hands-on training from Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers and Special Educators from the esteemed institutions of India like Trivandrum Mental Health Centre, National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) and Spastics Society of Karnataka to name few. Each of the experience was special on its own, and it taught me to break the boundaries of race, sexuality, gender, stereotypes and prejudices while working with an individual. Volunteering for the Flood Relief Programme under the collaboration of NIMHANS and Child & Women Welfare, Government of Kerala, was an opportunity for me to work closely with a rehabilitation unit and, provide psychosocial first aid for the survivors. Volunteering for special education centres made me more close to children with Cerebral Palsy and learning disorders. Though the brief period was challenging it built a special bond with the children, and it also boosted my confidence to work with them. Volunteering at a community level for various institutions like orphanages, old-age homes and hospitals increased my comfort to work with people of different age groups and backgrounds. Also, interning at Mental-health centres under the guidance of Psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers reminded me of the potential of an eclectic group.
