ABOUT ME

I am Iniego Carl G. Varon. I graduated from Ateneo Law School last March 2012 and from Ateneo de Manila University last March 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Legal Management. I was admitted to the Philippine Bar last May 2013 and practiced law for the past six (6) years as a Junior Associate for labor and litigation with Gerodias Suchianco Estrella Law Firm and as a Senior Legal Manager for SM Investments Corporation.

I am currently an independent legal counsel for Convoy of Hope Philippines, Inc., an international NGO that advocates community development by providing integrated nutrition-based feeding programs and women empowerment in far-flung communities in the Philippines and Zen Rooms Eservices PTE. LTD., a startup company in the budget hotel franchising industry based in Singapore but operates in the Philippines. Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia.

As a labor and litigation lawyer, I handled labor, civil, criminal, and arbitration cases, which involved researching, analyzing of evidence, appearing in court and administrative agencies, negotiating with opposing parties, and drafting of various opinions and pleadings. While as a corporate lawyer, I provided general consultation services for the various legal concerns of clients. These services include providing opinions on various legal matters, reviewing and drafting of contracts and agreements, risk management, corporate governance, corporate housekeeping, data privacy, intellectual property, and processing petitions, requests, and applications before government agencies.

In law school, I was a speaker for the Championship Team of the 2009 Red Cross IHL Moot Court Competition where I acquired knowledge in international humanitarian law, international human rights law, international criminal law and public international law. I also received training in oral advocacy, legal research, and memorial writing. I was also an intern with the Office of the Solicitor General, Ateneo Legal Services Center and the Ateneo Human Rights Center. Through these internships, I was able to provide pro bono legal work for the underprivileged members of the community and advocate human rights through workshops and seminars
