One must have an intuitive grasp of the body of work being addressed, to be able to immerse oneself in it completely and to work it keeping the point of view of the client in mind so as to lend them the maximum benefit of one’s professional expertise. Given that one has the necessary command of the language along with the attendant technical skills, this is the fundamental element in giving a quality result to any piece of work.
Background
My area of study interest was the role of phonetics and syntax in the English language in both oral communication and technical and creative writing from the point of view of its reflection on social culture on both a micro and macro level. An obvious example of this would be how colloquialisms reflect the character of a local culture. Have been involved in creating, writing and editing business promotional material for over two decades starting with material for my own company and eventually extending it to friends and associates in the business world as a secondary income. The content has varied widely, from creating and editing business ads and promotional material, to socioeconomic impact studies, biotechnology promotional material and academic papers. My particular area of expertise is proofreading and editing translations to English. I also enjoy proofreading and editing native English language articles, including creative writing. I have also held a Canadian certification in TESL and privately tutored English in Europe and Asia for a couple of years early in my career. In addition I have extensive personal experience in creative writing such as, poetry and social commentary, and I have published a novel.
