ABOUT ME
With almost 20 years of English to Japanese translation experience, I provide my clients fast, accurate and fit to need translations. My translation experience dates back to my university years and have worked as in-house translator since then at various organisations including fast-paced and work-to-detail Japanese companies, multi-national companies and non-profit organisation.
My field in translation has varied from website translation for a global online booking website to non-fiction book translations (religion & alternative medicine) to wildlife documentary scripts to financial market news. Due to my background as an editor and my character, I am dedicated to do in-depth research on the topic that I work on. I also focus on user-friendly translations that don’t make the target text sound like a "translated" text but a natural, flowing writing.
Additional to my strong background in magazine editing, I have experience in client service which has further developed my use of non-negative language skills when necessary and to create reader / customer oriented translations.
Summary of my experience is as follows:
- 8 years solid background in Japanese magazine editing, writing and copywriting.
- Total of over 10 years experience as freelance and in-house translator for a magazine company, environmental non-profit organisation, multi-national investment firm.
- Translation field includes: hotel booking website, book about alternative medicine, book about religion, professional musician's portfolio, market news, documentary film script, marketing materials for investment firm, annual report for investment firm, company's press release and more.
- Experience in client service at an investment firm.
