I am a Namibian journalist with up to nine years’ experience as a news reporter, subeditor and editor.
My most recent work in the media field was for The Villager Newspaper, as the Editor. I was heading The Villager Newspaper when it transitioned from an analytical weekly business newspaper to a daily online newspaper, prioritising on multimedia tools.
My work in the field is complemented by a Bachelor’s in Journalism and Communication Technology from the Polytechnic of Namibia, now Namibia University of Science and Technology.
As a journalist, I have excellent writing and research skills. I prioritize balanced reporting, accuracy, creativity and time management.
As a leader, I pride myself in effective newsroom management in order to make sure that reporters, photographers, designers and columnists have the necessary news desk support to carry out their daily duties.
As a subeditor and editor my responsibilities included managing the newsroom, story assignment, copy editing and fact checking, social media maintenance, engaging stakeholders, website updates, assuring that all articles are published in a dignified quality while maintaining the vision of the newspaper.
Additional abilities and experience:
I have experience with Web Content Management Systems and therefore can management content and updates for any website.
I have video editing experience using Adobe Premiere Pro cc.
As a journalist I am an experienced photographer and videographer.
I am proficient in spoken and written English, Afrikaans and Oshiwambo.
