ABOUT ME
I am a Kenyan freelance journalist based in Nairobi, Kenya. I have 20 years’ experience in print and online reporting and editing. I am a prolific book reviewer who has reviewed scores of books from leading publishing houses in Kenya. My skill and passion for writing stories in the first person has earned me editorial trust among people who would like to narrate their stories in their own words.
I am a passionate health writer and a candid advocate for marginalized populations especially people stigmatized because of illnesses and disease. My command in English Language in the capacity of a trained TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) instructor qualifies me not only to discern the editorial, voice and style of a writer but also enables me to teach writers how to communicate in writing.

My skill to review books and to interview prolific authors such as Shamlal Puri and Vaishnavi Ram Mohan drove me to becoming a book-editor and a detail – oriented book-critic. I was among the team of writers who interviewed and compiled a book profiling Kenya’s women politicians, 86 and Counting: Women Leaders in Kenya’s 11th Parliament where I interviewed and wrote stories of over twelve renowned women politicians. This book was sponsored by The Association of Media Women in Kenya. I was also a key writer in the compilation of Careerpedia Encyclopedia by Story Moja Publishers. I reviewed and published-in local newspapers- over twenty books by story Moja publishing house. I recently edited Those That Came Before Us a book by Kui Gitonga that narrates the stories of Kenya’s female freedom fighters. I was also a revise editor for Our Time to be Heard a book sponsored and published by the International HIV/AIDS Alliance. I have revised many other books including motivational and children’s books.
