811 VIRTUAL REALITY GAME DEVELOPER

DESCRIPTION: In order to promote the 811 - Call before you dig program, MISS DIG 811 is looking to develop a virtual reality experience to increase awareness of the 811 process. This role involves developing an immersive virtual reality experience for training homeowners, contractors, landscapers, locators and children on the importance of calling before you dig. The position offers a great opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology in the field of underground utility safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES
-Responsible for designing, developing, and deploying the MISS DIG 811 VR Game Suite under the direction of the IT and Executive Departments
-Extend the platform to add new game mechanics, fix existing bugs, and create new experiences for MISS DIG 811 VR Game Suite
-Be a champion for our stakeholders- insisting on the highest standards and creative functional and well-designed tools that delight the end user
-Meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Proven Experience in VR / AR software development, knowledge of Oculus/ HTC Vive
-Proficiency with either C++ or C# programming languages
-Proficiency with mainstream game engines (e.g. Unity or Unreal Engine)
-Experience developing on multiple platforms (web, mobile, etc.) is a plus
-Possess a working knowledge of Object-Oriented programming principles and software architecture
-Strong 3D math skills (matrix/vector math, trigonometry, linear algebra, etc.)
-Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
-Strong verbal and written communications skills
-Strong time management and multitasking
-Overall understanding of MISS DIG 811
-Willing to travel, if needed. No more than 15% of work time annually.
-Confidentiality and discretion are required
-Able to adhere to company policies and procedures
-Must be able to work independently
-Must be dependable
EDUCATION:
-High School Diploma or Equivalent required
-Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Game Development/ Programming or equivalent degree is a plus
