Navigation and Control Engineer
A contract position is available for a Navigation & Control Engineer to assist in the development of a custom made navigation related sensor. You will work on a part time basis, from home, in order to meet the project objective. The position is likely to be extended, based on performance. This is an excellent opportunity for well-motivated Engineer(s), eager to work on a new product which has been tested as a prototype and aiming to be commercialized.
Heres what you will do:
- Perform advanced navigation system design and analysis, integration support, and system performance assessment
- Develop hardware/software in the areas of GPS aided inertial navigation systems and attitude, heading reference system (AHRS) and alternative navigation sensors (accelerometers, gyroscopes, magnetometers, distance encoder and pressure).
- Derive technical solutions to complex navigation problems that require application of advanced technical principles
- Develop navigation system architectures, interfaces, and requirements
- Devise and implement advanced navigation algorithms to utilize non-GPS aiding sources
- Analysis and risk assessment of navigation performance in simulation and hardware subsystem test
- Related mechanical and electrical engineering requirements.
Heres what wed like to see in you:
- At least a Masters degree in one of Aerospace, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, strong in math; 5+ years of experience with navigation and control design and analysis, including architecture design, requirements development, and performance analysis
- Experience in the development and employment of modeling and simulation tools, including six degree of freedom simulations.
- Proficient with inertial navigation mechanizations, Kalman filters, as well as modeling and simulation of inertial measurement units and GPS receivers.
- Research and/or applied experience in advanced navigation system design for GPS-denied or GPS degraded conditions
- Familiarity with embedded software development and hardware/software integration
