Who we are:
We are a social enterprise working hard to improve education for all children around the world. We also teach kids about cultural differences and tolerance :)
Our Requirement:
We need TWO Chinese voice over artists (male and female) to do voice overs for our short stories for preschoolers IN ENGLISH. We care about the pronunciation and articulation as we are trying to teach kids to read in English - so the Chinese accent shouldnt be too broad or thick :). So really were looking for people who can speak fluently in English, love kids content and have access to recording studio!
At the moment we have a requirement to record 6 stories (3 for female voice, and 3 for male voice). This comes to approximately 500 words each. I will share stories in PDF with shortlisted candidates.
We are looking for ongoing voice talent, as we will need to record more stories and facts throughout the year.
Budget is $50 USD (Toogit fee included).
ABSOLUTELY MUST: This NEEDS to be recorded in a professional quality studio. No hiss. No hum. No background noise. If your samples have hiss or background noise, we will unfortunately not be able to work with you.
SOME THINGS TO BE KEPT IN MIND:
1. These stories are designed to help children to read. Unless specifically told otherwise, the words need to be read much SLOWER than normal speech (but without sounding disjointed). This is because we will be highlighting the text on the screen as the story is being read. If hired I can share samples to show you the timing of these stories (and what makes a difference between first, beginner, middle and advanced reader stories!). Along with reading slowly, make sure that you properly pronounce each word.
2. The last sentence should really feel as if its the last sentence - i.e. the inflection should go down quite a bit - the same way you would say they all lived happily ever after at the end of a story.
3. Deliverables: please give all the stories to us in two files - one .mp3, and one .wav (high quality). Label the files as Chinese Stories Female.mp3 or Chinese Stories Male.mp3. We will do the cutting and labelling from our side, so its easier if it comes across to us in these formats.
4. The title and authors name needs to be recorded (it is included as the first page content in each story). Youll see it marked in bold in the document we will provide.
5. Each page in a story is marked with page numbers. .After you have finished the text for one page, give a bit of a gap before starting the next page (makes it easier for us to edit). Please dont read these numbers out
6. MP3 File sizes should be as small as possible without affecting quality. It should be mono, exported at 128kpbs and recorded at 32000khz.
7. Recording Volume should be as loud as possible without distortion.
8. Youre reading for kids, so please feel free to smile, be animated and a little dramatic - just keep in mind that your pronunciation is key. Kids should still be able to tell what a word is.
9. Dont patronise kids and talk down to them. Just be a good storyteller!
10. Make sure you have a home studio or access to one, because if a line needs to be redone, then you should have immediate access to be able to re-do it.
