Per Scholas is seeking a multi-talented instructor and technology professional to deliver high-quality instruction to an adult population seeking the opportunity to reskill into a new career in tech.

The Instructor must be a talented and passionate engineer with a deep understanding of the environments, languages, frameworks, and tools associated with Security and Network operations. You must be self-directed, self-motivated, and comfortable making intermediate-level decisions to adapt processes and curriculum delivery based on industry and client demand and class needs. We are looking for someone who is both business savvy and has technical knowledge and experience to meet the talent gaps among employers in the industry. The right candidate is able to apply industry experience to a classroom setting while identifying the skill levels of students and aligning instruction to fit students needs using course materials and hands-on instruction. The Instructor collaborates with peers on working with students and works with the Director of Technical Instruction and Curriculum to develop best in class curriculum and training methodologies.

WHAT YOULL DO:
Deliver training to reskill existing corporate employees for new careers in Information Technology, which includes daily instruction, assessment administration, attendance, one-on-one tutoring, evaluation and monitoring of individual student progress daily, addressing student violations with students in a consistent manner, and more
Work in collaboration with the Director of Technical Curriculum and our corporate partner to identify and continually evaluate and evolve the training as demand new technologies become available.
Provide students with access to relevant sources for outside learning on technologies and study aids relevant to the curriculum
Work closely with the other team members to identify student needs, provide necessary support, establish individualized plans for student achievement, and participate in regular student status meetings.
Maintain and update LMS with student grades and progress notes.
Create, submit and maintain training curricula for approval and files.
Maintain a minimum of an 80% graduation rate for every cohort based on rigorous assessments of student performance

WHAT YOULL BRING TO US:

Professional Qualifications
Bachelors Degree (or equivalent practical experience) in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or related area plus at least 3 years of related work experience or an Associates Degree in a computer discipline plus at least 5 years IT work experience
1-2 years of relevant teaching or education experience preferred including:
Translating complex materials to adult learners
Working with diverse individuals and groups with varying learning styles
Curriculum design including ongoing evaluation for continuous improvement
Syllabus development and lesson planning
Student assessment and coaching
Knowledge of Learning Management Systems a plus.

Technology Qualifications
Knowledge and grasp of networking fundamentals including knowledge of network connectivity i.e. local area networks, wifi, bandwidth, switches, routers, firewalls, network protocols, OSI models, ports, protocols, edge devices, etc
Knowledge and familiarity with network security fundamentals and information security tools. I.e. common network attacks, common software tools, firewalls, anti-virus software, penetration testing, SecTools, network address translation (NAT), Wireshark, packet analysis, PCAP extraction for forensics, defensible endpoint security architecture, malware analysis, NMAP, Plesk, web application security, network security monitoring
Skilled in various implementation of command line tools for NOC or SOC analysis i.e. the Linux/BSD command line, shell scripting, FTP, Putty
Knowledge and ability to implement virtual machine installations, basic encryption algorithms (PKI, PGP), understanding of DES, SSL, TLS and VPN encryption protocols.
Knowledge in Risk Management for incident handling, the OPSEC process.
Skilled in the process of network security monitoring and the implementation of SIEMS (Security Information and Event Management Systems) i.e. Splunk, Solarwinds, WhatsUp, Gold to perform searches, reports, dashboards and scheduled alerts.
