Need an expert in database/big data & server achitecture management

We are an innovative social media analytics solution provider in the entertainment industry. We are a team of 2 (1 dev, 1 business developper), created the company 5 years ago, and several major companies already trust us and use our software on a daily basis.

Due to the quickly growing amount of data that we are gathering and our lack of internal expertise in the matter, we are facing a technical challenge to improve the general performance of the platform and ensure its long-term viability.

In that context, we are actively looking for a Technical Consultant with a strong expertise in database/big data and server(s) architecture.

The mission would then consist in three steps:
- a necessary audit phase during which you will have to understand our scope, our constraints, and how data and server architecture are currently managed
- a consulting step with clear recommendations on how we shall proceed to improve both aspects, taking into consideration our start-up constraints
- an optional implementation phase of the recommendations resulting in the improvement of general performance (implementation could be done on our end as well, to be discussed)

The overall length of mission is estimated at approx. 1 month.

The ideal person would have an agile / startup / open mindset: we are a very small company, everything was developped by 1 person with no professional programmation experience, and the current code/architecture is therefore not necessarily using industry standards. The platform is built on the basic PHP/mySQL duo and is hosted on a dedicated IIS server - a recommendation with as few changes as possible would be preferred (to remain manageable and quickly implementable), though we are of course open to some important ones (type of hosting - AWS ? ; maybe DBMS but it would have a huge impact on code) if absolutely necessary (but please dont be a die-hard fan of a specific architecture that youd want to enforce whatever the context). Experience in mySQL would be a big plus since it is our current DBMS.
