Position data export from FlightAware using FlightAware API to URL endpoint f

We need to provide our aircraft global position information from the onboard satellite positioning system to a spatially enable system called CATS. The position information currently is uploaded to FlightAware for presentation. FlightAware has an API called FlightXML for either pulling or pushing the data. We need to extract this data and store it a URL endpoint that is polled by the CATS system on a regular basis.

FlightXML is a graphic query based API that appears to be well documented and used. The aircraft are not always flying, so provision of the positioning information to the CATS system should use the trigger of position data being uploaded to FlightAware.

The use of FlightXML has a cost based on usage (data volume) so there is some consideration of efficiency. However, the robustness of the solution is critical.

Time is critical on this project as the aircraft will be starting its new mission.
