Arduino Programmer to create a Counter for People entering through a Door.

We are looking for a software to count the number of people entering a door and display the live count on a ticker or a screen.
A door of a store would be divided in two parts using queue managers, people entering from the left would be counted on left side and people entering from the right would be counted on the right side. People exiting from the same door would not be counted. The mechanism to be used should be easy to install.
