Database Administrator

We are looking for a Database Administrator Summary: The Database Administrator is responsible for protecting enterprise data. Day to day functions include the management, installation, deployment, monitoring and ongoing support of enterprise databases for both business and clinical systems. This position participates in resolving complex technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation. Additionally, this position requires solid customer service skills to support and assist end users.

Responsibilities:

Protects enterprise database assets; This includes implementing and monitoring effective database backup and recovery methodologies and processes
Assumes database administrator role for projects as designated by supervisor which may include: analyzing user needs and creating proper database design to meet those needs; Installing and configuring new database environments and upgrading existing database environments
Provides daily support for existing database solutions, including modifying, testing, validating, and documenting system changes; Adheres to normal change control processes for these activities
Participates in day-to-day system administration including performance tuning, system monitoring, problem investigation, and optimization
Develops and maintains database environment documentation

Requirements

A Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered as well
1 to 3 years of prior experience is required
Clear analytical thinking, problem solving and able to respond to issues in a calm, responsive manner
Able to prioritize and make decisions
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Uses feedback for improvement and willingness to accept change
Seeks to increase job knowledge through independent study and/or formal education
This position does require some on-call coverage
Regular attendance required
