Platform Infrastructure Engineer
Term: 12 months

Availability: FULL TIME (40 hrs/week)

Reporting to the Platform Engineering Lead, Digital Systems, the primary task of the Platform Infrastructure Engineer, will be software and systems engineering, in support of data engineering, machine learning, and analytics workloads in the Microsoft Azure environment. Working closely with other operations and product groups, as well as architecture teams, to facilitate cloud expansion, analytics and migration initiatives.

Key Accountabilities (Expected Achievements)

- Actively monitoring all funds spent in relation to the project, this includes maintaining a detailed current view of budget, actuals and forecast numbers;
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Consulting and working very closely with various business stakeholders to assist in cloud solution design and requirement gathering
- Deploy, support, and optimize highly scalable, fault tolerant cloud solutions in support of data engineering, machine learning and analytics projects
- Optimize new and already provisioned solutions for availability, scalability, security and cost
- Deliver re-usable, flexible, built-as-code infrastructure solutions
- Drive adoption of validated solution templates across the organization
- Look for opportunities to automate repeatable processes at every opportunity
- Ensuring solution, performance and operational reliability of digital systems
- Work with stakeholders to develop and configure monitoring for Service Level Indicators, and establish Service Level Objectives and Service Level Agreements
- Respond to outages, perform root cause analysis and proactively prevent recurrences
- Be a thought leader and senior point of escalation for other infrastructure team members

Key Competencies (Skills, Knowledge, Personal Attributes)

- BSc. Computer Science or equivalent is preferred
- Preference for Microsoft Azure certifications (Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies, Microsoft Azure Architect Design, Microsoft Azure DevOps Solutions)
- Very good understanding of Azure Infrastructure services, the offerings available and their limitations
- Experience with Automation and Infrastructure as Code solutions
- Exposure to an Agile/DevOps environment, CI/CD and application lifecycle management
- Familiarity with containerization technologies and platforms, specifically Kubernetes and Azure Container Instances
- Strong coding and scripting skills, comfortable working in version control systems
- Worked with Hashicorp Terraform, preferably Enterprise, and Vault
- Any experience designing and implementing data pipelines would be a bonus
- Lead technical customer engagements
- Excellent problem solving skills in resolving issues with complex systems
- Excellent attention to detail and proven strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Strong customer service skills
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate within a distributed team as well as other departments at all levels of the organization
