Programmer needed to update Projection/Calculation Tool

We are looking to update and upgrade our existing projection software. This tool exists to help our customers input data unique to their environment and operation to calculate process outcomes for a selection of our products. The current program is functional but outdated and lacking in some essential features. We want to understand the time and cost implications in creating either a web-based version, a downloadable software package, or both. We are open to many programming languages as long as they have security capabilities.

Our current software was originally written in Fortran in 1995. Through the years, it was upgraded, most recently to VB6 in 2012. It is very user friendly, with intuitive controls such as pop-up windows for specfic items. The primary goal of this project is to upgrade to a more contemporary software language that can be readily maintained and to modernize the interface while keeping it very user-friendly.

Once the new interface is established, some examples of improvements would include:
- Expanding the parameters that can be input
- Administrative control over adding and deleting available products to base projections off of
- Adding more options to the simulation modes
- Improving certain features and parameters to allow for a more comprehensive projection without using multiple pieces of software
- Adding operating consumption estimates (i.e. chemicals, energy, product)
- Updating the warnings to ensure values are correct
- Easily sending projections to our in-house Sales Support for assistance
- Simplify the printout options for easy comprehension (single page for high level, and multi-page for more in depth simulation results)

Since our current primary software has many gaps in capabilities, we developed an Excel-Macro based software package about ten years ago. This does have some of the additional features mentioned above (so the simulation equations are already established) but it is not user-friendly, and cannot be effectively secured for external usage. However, this tool is available for reference in the developed of the new package.
