I have started supporting 2 different companies. I want someone to check the current config and offer suggestions based on their environments, respectively.
Now that I have a minute....Here are the details:
I have these SonicWALL models:
SonicWALL TZ300 X1
SonicWALL TZ170 X3
Background: New customer to me. 4 locations connected together via VPN. Their LOB software, runs from a published app via RDP connection. Workstations at the remote locations. 1 or 2 max. LOB software runs on a physical Dell server. The DC, TS, and Backup Servers are VMs running on an HP VMware host. Dell and HP at the same location.
Had a ransomware issue, coincidentally when the DSL connection was replaced with a Fiber connection. These are all originally set up by one person. Maintained by another for a short time. And have been untouched for some time.
Networking/PC hardware per location.
S-Location:
3 Admin PCs. 2 physical Servers. 2 sales counter PCs.
Networking: SonicWALL TZ300, Aruba 2920-24G POE Switch
ISP: 10MB Fiber.
Wi-Fi: via Netgear Nighthawk AC2350.
VOIP: MikorTik Routerboard with D-Link SmartSwitch switch handling VOIP phones.
O-Location:
2 sales counter PCs.
Networking: SonicWALL TZ170, Hitron Modem, Comtrend ADSL2+
ISP: 20x7MB Cable.
Wi-Fi: via Netgear AC1200 R6120.

W-Location:
1 sales counter PCs.
Networking: SonicWALL TZ170, Hitron Modem

L-Location:
2 sales counter PCs.
Networking: SonicWALL TZ170, AdTran NetVanta 3120
ISP: ??MB Untested/Verified
Wi-Fi: via Linksys E1200
VOIP: MikorTik Routerboard with ComTrend GS-7308 8 port Gigabit Ethernet Switch switch handling VOIP phones
Request:
1. I want to have the tightest configuration that is possible but allow them to do what they need to do. Removing any legacy or un-needed settings/configs.
2. I want to account for the recent Ransomware experience they survived and apply any additional protection for future cracks in their walls.
2. I want to set up any notifications that are useful for detections/changes/modifications.
3. I want to update and backup the config on a regular basis. (automate if possible)
4. Set up an addition admin VPN connection for any of the steps above. As well as setting up some new users. 1. a less privileged tech user 2. Company Admin login 3. Tech/MSP Admin Login
Access:
They have business hours from 7am to 4pm Central Standard time. If there will be any interruptions, I would like to coordinate with them to be able to be onsite if needed or if they were to experience any interruption that it would be scheduled.
