Translator English to Dutch for country guides

Im looking for someone to help me translate country guides from English to Dutch.

The guides are written in conversational English and should be translated into conversational but correct Dutch. I myself write in Belgian-Dutch so preference will be given to translators who can translate into Belgian-Dutch or who dont have immense Dutchness shining through in their writing.

Im open to applications from non-native Dutch speakers but do note that your Dutch need to be so good you can pass as native. If you know it isnt, please dont apply.

The guides are between 3,000 and 5,000 words and dont include any technical terms or anything else that might cause problems during translation. Id prefer paying a fixed price per guide to paying hourly or by the word so that we both know what to expect and especially so that I know how many of these I can outsource each month.

I respect your time and whatever rate you choose to quote but want to be upfront and say my budget is rather limited. Please take that into account when applying. Also, dont mind the budget added with the job posting. Its just there because I couldnt leave it empty.

In total, I have over 30 guide translations to outsource over the span of several months with a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 4 guides to translate each month, but Im happy to discuss this number based on your availability. Ill be trialing several writers if several good applications come through and hope to find someone I can keep on board after this project is finished for other translation work. There might be additional translation work during this project for you as well if youre up for it.

I can share links to the guides in English so you have an idea of what youll be translating when you pass the first selection phase, at which point Ill also ask you do to a paid first translation to see if youre a good fit.

If you apply, please include the following:
  • Samples of previous translation work, preferably with the source text included
  • Samples of your writing in Dutch if you have any
  • Why youd be a great fit for this job
  • Your availability
  • Your rates
  • Anything else that might be relevant

Applications that dont include the above or fail to meet other criteria mentioned will not be taken into consideration.

Thanks for applying. Im looking forward to seeing if we can work together!
