Scope of work:
Creation of a tournament sorting tool for a major international sports organization to help arrange international competition.
I am looking for a developer to create a tool for our organisation to assist in arranging and re-arranging fixtures as part of a new competition model.
The issue:
Currently, our tournament schedule is very manual and clunky, with a lot of data points meaning all fixtures need to be reshuffled several times when changes are made, leading to a huge amount of time being spent organising them.
Main complexities exist around their being fixed windows when fixtures can be played, and fixed dates when certain fixtures have to be played. As a consequence once one fixture is changed this can have a knock-on effect to a number of other fixtures.
Proposed solution:
Automate the process using python/SQL/other depending on proposed project
Data points/rules:
List of competing countries (tier 1 and tier 2) by region
Timeframe/window constraints
Rest time between games constraints
Geographical and flight time constraints
Budget implications
2 pools of 8 teams
Home & away games : team A/team B or neutral across 3 windows
1st Edition- November 2021, July 2022
2nd Edition- November 2022, July/August 2023
Etc.
Front end:
Should be able to be run easily by tournament manager, with no technical experience
Output format:
Xls
Application remit:
If the project works well, possibility to widen its application to the organisations other major tournaments
