French to English translation work for Interesting Book Project

Hi -- Im an author working on a book project about an infamous doctor, J. Marion Sims, who googles easily. Sims worked for a few years in Paris, and about a year and a half ago I spent a month in France to track down information about him in various archives. I have all these files -- but theyre in French, and my French is rudimentary, at best.

Long story short, I need someone who can quickly and efficiently read through these texts and provide quick summaries of them, keeping an eye out for the kind of narrative anecdotes that might work well in a book. (At which point, a word for word translation might become necessary...)

The texts are relative varied: sometimes accounts from newspapers, sometimes handwritten documents and case reports, sometimes biographies in printed books. Most of it would be related to medicine, in one way or another, but I dont imagine that there would be a LOT of arcane medical language (but probably some). There are also some documents from the court of Napoleon III that are related to the American Civil War -- and how it fits in is probably too complicated to go into here.

If I can find someone interested in this work, Ill need to figure out whats possible financially, and then go through what I have and cull what I really need, and what I can muddle through myself. Im hoping to make contact with someone here who is perhaps interested enough to proceed on a somewhat speculative basis...
