We requested to have an Ad made for our company and the designer used a cartoon/illustrated style in it. Although my partner and I were happy with its simplicity, our boss was not amused by the childish nature of the design and set us on creating him a new variant. Based on his critique of the current design he wants something more realistic and less cartoon-like.

One of the great services our company has is being able to provide guaranteed scholarships to young children to help them avoid college debt. For those who already have it, they can join our company and make extra income by helping those other children avoid that debt. Sharks = Loan Sharks and the analogy comes together.
The main design description that he wants is there should be a boat in the ocean, maybe it says USS Common Sense on the side (not a raft), and there should be people in the water (not minions). You can tell these people are recent university graduates because of their graduation caps. There should be a shark in the water. The whole shark. (not just a fin). The man on boat will be reaching out to them to get them out of the water.
When applying, please share relevant work and a plan for what you will make for us. We always get many applications that say something along the lines of I am a very good designer. Hire me and I guarantee you will be 100% satisfied. That could very well be true, but there is nothing there that helps us distinguish between 5+ people that say the same thing. The only way we can fairly choose who is right are when people show they have a plan for the design and share relevant portfolio work. The designer who is the most detailed in their response will get our work 9 times out of 10.
We hope to make this a simple process and not drive you insane with edits. I think the biggest challenge will be trying to decide on a style of artwork that appeals to him. If we arent putting actors in the water I assume we need some form of artwork/illustration. But the closer we can get that to realistic body proportions and appearance the better.
