The organization has two units: American Youth and Business Alliance (training and placement) and Data Logistic Co. (geodata analysis and mapping). Our mission is to foster the growth of regions across the U.S. and the globe by providing corporations, organizations, and governments with the location-based intelligence they need to stay competitive while fostering the growth of their workforce through innovative recruitment and training.
Scope:
- Lessons/training tutorials will be posted on Google Classroom or Canvas (average 42%+ will be lab work, hands on software training and production)
- Weekly short quizzes with Pass/Fail, trainees are eligible for retake until material is mastered
- Weekly projects using Esri ArcGIS online
- 1.5 hour live sessions four days a week (time slots undetermined) for live demonstrations of software application plus interaction Q&A with instructor
- Certificate of completion w/final project and skills and abilities assessment (live demonstrations for instructor)
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of full Esri ArcGIS, ArcMap, ArcCatalog experience
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent amount of work experience in GIS or related field including Social Sciences
- Ability to work remotely and use of Zoom for live sessions and recording
Expectations:
- Self-starter and ability to work remotely with very little supervision
- Available for weekly meetings with President and Board member(s) about progress of training or any trainee issues or concerns
- Ability to multi-task and handle dozens of trainees at a given time
- Ability to contribute to curriculum and adjust with updates as needed
- Ability to create quizzes and projects for trainees and assess their progress weekly
- Available to conduct live training sessions (and record them) for one and half hour (1.5) each day Monday - Thursday
- Deliver guided discussions, lectures, demonstrations, and small group exercises, seminars, workshops, and lab work
- Conduct assessments in accordance with course design
- Help develop instruction materials and modules for online learning and apply expertise in developing and delivering technical training and educational courses in academic, commercial, government, and industrial organizations
- Act as guide and model for trainees offering availability for contact via email or online discussions about materials, quizzes, projects, or other industry related questions
Expected Minimum Skills and Capabilities of Trainees Under Trainer Tutelage :
- Basic working knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap and ArcCatalog (Editor toolbar, Production Editing toolbar, Manage Features, Attribute Table, Attribute Window)
- Ability to edit points, lines, and polygons
- Ability to utilize and manipulate layer symbology
- Ability to create selection sets (i.e. by attribute, select by location, etc.)
- Understanding definition queries and can create basic queries
- Understanding of feature snapping and using the two snapping options of classic vs snapping toolbar
- Ability to differentiate between databases, feature sets, feature classes, and shapefiles
- Possess basic aerial photo interpretation knowledge (determining features on aerial/sate photographs)
