I am a student and need to develop a code to extract some information from a STEP file.
My project is based on convert a CAD file of an assembly product into STEP, then I can have this file in ACIS protocol. Since it is possible to open the ACIS in 'txt', we can retrieve some information of each part of the assembly design, such as the coordinates of the vertex, edges, surfaces and shells.
The goal of my project is to compare each part of the assembled product with the others. I want to discover if the part is in contact, or it is passing through (like a bolt on a block), or (if it has a flat surface) it has a gap between another flat surface, or (if it has a rounded surface) it has a gap between another rounded surface, or it has no relationship with another part. Each part needs to be compared with every other part and the code needs to show me a relationship matrix at the end.
There is an article that gives more detailed of the code that I want make. I can be coded in any language, the only things that matters to me is the final matrix done.
