Position Chef Developer/Architect

Description:
- Design and create new Chef code within an existing framework and using existing Chef coding standards
- Update existing Chef code within an existing framework and using existing Chef coding standards
- Coordinate work with other team members as directed by team lead
- Use Bit bucket (Git) to version control Chef code changes
- Document changes and rationale in Chef code, Bit bucket and in Confluence to promote knowledge sharing and a strong team dynamic
- Perform code reviews as part of team pull requests to ensure sharing of knowledge and best practices
- Use and update Test-Kitchen and Docker as necessary to provide fast feedback on code quality
- Troubleshoot deployment issues in AWS and in on-prem labs -Work paid overtime occasionally to meet key milestones
Required Skills:
- 3+ years coding in Chef
- 3+ years using Git (or Gitlab or Bit bucket)
- 3+ years Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration experience
- Strong knowledge of best practices in IT and Infrastructure Automation
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of SQL / MySQL
- Knowledge of JSON and XML -Ability to effectively communicate ideas
- Works well in a team as part of a much larger project
- Enjoys a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Solid familiarity with Continuous Integration (CI) and implementation using a CI Server such as Jenkins
- Basic familiarity with DevOps practices
Desired Skills
- Chef Cookbook Development and Deploying Cookbooks Certification
- Perl and Python knowledge
- Confluence and Fisheye/Crucible experience
- Some Oracle Database Administration -Intermediate familiarity with DevOps
